Ze Banana Box Buggies

Ok so when I first started and was unpacking a box of bananas I for some reason remembered all those crazy rumours of BANANA BOX SPIDERS!!! Aka Tarantulas and freaked myself out. But I am a big girl and get over my crazy thoughts
Buuuuuut then the other day while I was cheerfully unpacking ok thats a lie I was hella tired bananas I felt buggy legs brush up against my fingers (I almost cried out in terror) and ran to the back with the cart that I had to inspect a little closer. Only to find one of the hugest bugs I have ever seen outside of a museum, it was damn ugly too. So I tried to find one of the managers to no avail and through sheer desperation asked the guy in the grocery dept. to come get rid of it but of course because of my luck he was afraid of bugs, so I had to ask the pop guy who I have never before seen in my life to come take care of it only to have him laugh in my face. Until he saw the buggy then he was not laughing so hard (I had to evilly laugh to myself at this) after he got rid of the buggy I went back to stocking bananas, well after psyched myself up to do so. Only to find more little buggies only these were actually small so it wasn't that bad I just set them aside. I found out though the next day that all buggies in this tale of horror were cockroachs from Ecuador!!! I have dealt with these foul buggies before (at das vaterpark) but never to this size.
It looked like this

This is sad

I think I'm the only one who reads my blog which is ridiculously pathetic. So I guess until someone else reads my blog I'll just keep writing in it anyway.

Tip of the Day: Do not touch blemishes with your hands, this will introduce bacteria to the area and cause the blemish to redden.

The best thing for blemishes....ever

Okay so lets say your like me and can't help but pick at your blemishes every time you get them(this also works for any other abrasion). Here are some easy steps to help ease the healing time.

Step 1 Cleanse:
Wash your face or affected area with warm soapy water

Step 2 Disinfect:
Use a toner to disinfect the area if you really can't stand the smell/effect of hydrogen peroxide, this will get rid of any left over bacteria. (this step will sting a lot but is necessary)

Step 3:
Apply polysporin (neosporin will also work), this stuff is amazing and cuts healing time down to a fraction of normal healing time without it. Because polysporin is antibiotic it helps prevent bacteria growth and allows the body to perform under very little stress. If this is for a cut or you don't plan on going anywhere apply a bandaid too.

  • I don't recommend putting make-up on over polysporin because it doesn't work trust me.

  • A great way to revitalize your skin is to apply polysporin to your entire face this will feel really gross but will give you the most amazing glow.

  • Another thing I recommend on a slightly unrelated note is to apply vaseline to your skin before swimming if you want to protect it, I found this out when I started swimming every day before class and my skin took a serious beating from it. The Vaseline helps put up a barrier between your skin and the harsh pool chemicals used to maintain chlorine and water pH balance. Also rinsing yourself off before entering the pool is a must so you don't absorb as much chlorine.

Big Fat Manifesto

The book Big Fat Manifesto by Susan Vaught was interesting  to say the least. Here's a short summary: Fat girl (her term not mine) needs money so she writes a column for her school newspaper (which she is an active member of) for a scholarship  about her daily life and the horrors of being fat in a world that is obsessed with being skinny, along the way her boyfriend gets gastric bypass surgery a procedure which greatly reduces the size of your stomach so you can't eat as much.

Well, maybe thats a crappy summary oh well here's what I thought of it. I liked the book up until about the halfway point when she started to seriously rag on skinny people. I am as mentioned pretty skinny and have tried to gain weight healthily and have not really been successful, however reading about BWNTE (bitches who need to eat) hit a rather sensitive nerve to say the least. After that I had no sympathy at all for her not because of her circumstances but because she supposedly didn't care about her weight, in fact she reveled in it and yet she was not satisfied enough to leave other people's weight alone when she would do nothing about hers. Now don't get me wrong I have no problems with her wanting to stay large but why should she impose her views on other people when she hated theirs imposed  on her?

On a scale from 1-5 I would give it a 3 because even though I didn't like it much it did inspire me a lot and was well written.
